1-to-1 Pilates in Finchley
Private Pilates tailored to your body, your goals, and your stage of life - starting with a Strong Start Session.
If you’re feeling stiff, less strong than you’d like, nervous about getting it wrong, or managing aches that make exercise feel risky, 1:1 support can be the calmest way to begin.
My approach is grounded, intelligent, and practical. We build strength, mobility and confidence in a way that makes sense for real bodies, especially in midlife and beyond.
The first step is always Strong Start.
Start with a Strong Start session
The Strong Start Session is the entry point for working with me.
It’s a focused 1:1 session where we:
look at how you move (and what your body needs right now)
talk through any pain, stiffness, anxiety, injuries or ‘unknowns’
identify what will actually move the needle for you (without overwhelm)
choose the safest, most effective way for you to train consistently from week one
You’ll leave with clarity, not just a nice session.
Strong Start is designed to give you a plan you can follow immediately, rather than a stop–start approach that depends on diary gaps.
What happens in a Strong Start session
Strong Start is practical and reassuring.
Depending on what you need, we may include:
simple movement screening and alignment checks
breathwork and core support foundations
mobility and stability work for hips, spine, shoulders and feet
strength-focused Pilates work (so you feel capable, not fragile)
modifications for common issues (knees, hips, back, wrists, pelvic floor)
a clear ‘what to do next’ plan you can follow immediately
This is not about perfection. It’s about understanding your body and building a training approach you can trust.
Reformer + equipment (when appropriate)
In my Finchley home studio, we may use Pilates equipment - including the Reformer, Wunda Chair and Barrel - when it supports your goals.
Equipment work can be useful for building strength, improving control, giving you the right level of support, or progressing resistance safely.
We’ll choose the tools that suit you, not the other way around.
Location
1:1 sessions take place in my calm home studio in Finchley (N3). I work with clients from across North London including East Finchley, West Finchley, North Finchley, Hampstead Garden Suburb, Highgate, Muswell Hill and Crouch End.

Who 1:1 Pilates is for
1:1 support is ideal if you want calm, expert guidance and a personalised approach.
It’s particularly helpful if you:
are new to Pilates and want to learn properly from the start
feel stiff, unbalanced, or weaker than you used to
want strength training that feels safe and manageable
are returning to exercise after injury, illness or a long break
are navigating peri-menopause/menopause changes and want a steady, joint-friendly approach
want support with joint discomfort, back issues, or recurring niggles
want a tailored foundation before joining classes or a programme
If you’re over 40 (especially 50+) and you want a structured but supportive way to build strength and confidence, Strong Start is the most effective place to begin.
Frequently asked questions
-
No. Strong Start is designed for beginners and returners. You don’t need to be ‘fit’ to begin - just open to learning.
-
Yes. Pilates is designed to improve mobility, strength and stability around the spine, hips, knees and shoulders. Sessions are adapted so you move in a controlled, supported way.
-
Absolutely. Many clients over 40 benefit from a blend of mobility, core stability and gradual strength progression. I integrate strength work where helpful.
-
Yes, equipment work may be part of your sessions where it’s appropriate. In Strong Start we’ll decide whether Reformer is the right tool for you right now, or whether a different approach will build confidence and strength more quickly.
-
Yes. Many of my 1:1 clients are in midlife (and older) and value a calm, supportive environment with clear, detailed instruction.
-
Not necessarily - and that’s by design. After Strong Start, I’ll place you into the route that will support consistent progress: live classes, Foundations, or (where genuinely needed) a short block of 1:1 support. Ongoing 1:1 places are limited.
-
You’re exactly the kind of person I work well with. We’ll go at a sensible pace, choose the right modifications, and build your confidence step by step.
